How to Customize Your Inbox Site

Rename your Inbox site, set its brand color and logo, update the support contacts your senders see, optionally replace the recipient map with a static image, and edit your public landing page, all from your Inbox app settings.

Looking for prices or review settings?

Review settings are on the Review policy page, under Review, in the same Inbox app settings. Group prices are on the Pricing page there, under Revenue, and Outlet prices stay on the Inbox tab in Wire. See How to Configure Submission Review and How to Set Your Inbox Prices.

Before You Begin

You must be an owner or manager of the organization that runs your Inbox site, your newsroom's branded submission portal (see How Inbox Works). Team members with other roles won't see the settings described below. Ask an owner on your team if you're not sure which role you have.

You will need:

Instructions

Open Your Site Settings

  1. Open your Inbox app and go to Settings.

  2. Under Inbox site, choose Site branding, choose Landing page to edit your landing page, or choose Recipient selection for the coverage image.

Update your branding

The Site branding page controls how your Inbox site "appears to the organizations that send you press releases, in your navigation bar, your emails and your public pages."

Field Required? What to enter
Display name Required Your site's name. Changing it renames the site everywhere: navigation bar, emails, and public pages.
Brand color Optional Pick from the color swatch or type a hex value like #A72536. The sample strip below repaints as a preview, but as the form notes, it is "Preview only until you save". Click Reset to default to go back to the standard palette.
Support email Optional The address shown to senders who need help.
Support phone Optional A phone number for the same purpose.
Legal footer Optional Text that "appears at the foot of your emails and public pages."

Click Save branding.

Below the identity fields, the Your Logo for Inbox card shows the logo on your account today (or "No logo has been set yet"). Either control sets the same logo:

  1. Under Upload an image, choose a PNG or JPEG up to 2 MB (Plucky hosts it for you), or under Or use a web address, paste the full http:// or https:// address of a logo you already host.

  2. Click Save logo (or Replace logo if one is already set).

Replace the Recipient Map With an Image

Adding a coverage image is optional. Senders choose where their press release goes on the Distribution page of the Inbox submission flow, which shows an interactive map of your coverage. When you upload an image on the Recipient selection page, under Inbox site, it replaces that map for every sender. Only add one if you do not want senders to see the map, for example when every sender going through your portal automatically gets the same distribution targets and there is nothing for them to choose. Leave it empty to keep the map. This image is separate from your logo and landing-page branding.

Note

The image is a static graphic. It does not add recipients or act as an interactive map; the destination list determines where a release goes.

  1. Choose a single, non-animated PNG or JPEG, up to 2 MiB and 25 million pixels. The image is the centerpiece of the Distribution page and displays up to about 1000 pixels wide, so upload at least 2000 pixels wide in a 2:1 or 16:9 shape for a sharp result.
  2. Enter Alternative text describing the coverage image for someone who cannot see it (up to 300 characters).
  3. Select Save image and check the saved preview.

To replace it, choose a new file, review the alternative text, and save again. Select Remove image to stop displaying it. Upload a file here; this tab does not accept an external image URL.

If the image fails to load, submitters can still use the destination list. Changes appear when they next load the page, including on your site's custom domain.

If another owner or manager saves first, reload the tab before retrying so you can review their changes. If an upload fails, the previous saved image remains; select the file again before retrying.

Edit Your Landing Page

The landing page editor controls the public landing page of your site, the first thing a visiting business or PR rep sees. It opens in place of the settings page and fills the window, with the form on the left and your page on the right. To return, choose ← Inbox site settings at the top left.

The form lists the parts of your page from top to bottom: Header, Hero, Comparison, How it works, Dashboard, Closing and Footer. Each part has a number, which also appears on that part of the preview. Click a part's name to open it; one part is open at a time. Comparison, How it works and Dashboard have a switch beside their name that shows or hides them on your page. An empty field reads Using default text and uses the shared default wording, which the preview shows. Anything you type replaces the default. To go back to the default, clear the field or choose Reset to default, then save.

Text you enter is shown exactly as typed, so quotes, ampersands and angle brackets appear as literal characters.

The right side of the editor shows your real landing page exactly as it will look once saved, including changes you have not saved yet. On a narrow screen it appears below the form.

  • The preview updates a moment after you stop typing. It scrolls to the part you open and outlines it, and the text the field you are in changes is highlighted.
  • Click any part of the preview to open it in the form. Clicking a piece of text takes you straight to its field.
  • Choose Desktop or Phone above the preview to check both widths.
  • The top of the editor reads Unsaved changes until you click Save landing page. Nothing changes on your public page before then.
  • If you try to leave the editor with unsaved changes, you are asked whether to leave without saving. Choose Stay on this page to keep editing.
  • Links and buttons inside the preview never open; a click only opens that part in the form.
Part What you can change Notes
Header Main website address, Header link text Enter a full https:// address, or leave it blank to show no link. Other schemes, addresses with sign-in details, and addresses that are not web addresses are rejected when you save. The header text defaults to "Your site name home". Without an address the link text cannot be edited, but text you saved before is kept.
Hero Headline, Introduction The introduction holds one or two paragraphs. Separate them with a blank line. A third paragraph is rejected with a message when you save.
Comparison Comparison headline and introduction, your network panel headline, first benefit sentence, Box 1 to Box 6 The six boxes label the illustration of your network. They are descriptions only: they are not delivery destinations and do not change which newsrooms receive a submission, coverage, prices or routing. Each box has its own standard label ("newsroom 1" and so on) and holds up to 60 characters; long labels wrap inside the illustration.
How it works Section introduction, fourth step description The four step titles and the first three descriptions are shared copy.
Dashboard Shown or hidden only The dashboard illustration uses sample data and shows your site's own address in its caption.
Closing Closing headline, closing text Shown above the registration button, which stays visible.
Footer Footer description, Footer link text, related links The footer link uses the address set in Header; its text defaults to the address's domain name. Up to five related links, each with a text and a full https:// address. Blank rows are ignored; a row with only a text or only an address is reported as an error.

Header, Hero, Closing and Footer always appear. A part you switch off shows as a dashed strip in the preview, and its switch reads Hidden. Text you typed for it is kept for when you switch it back on.

Your logo, site name, brand color, support contacts and legal footer are not repeated here. Edit them on the Site branding page; the landing page picks them up automatically wherever they appear.

Click Save landing page. All of the fields save together. If something cannot be saved, the editor comes back with your entries intact, the affected part open, and a message beside each field that needs attention. If another owner or manager saved the landing page while you were editing, you are asked to reload the current settings first so their changes are not overwritten.

What Happens Next

  • Every visitor sees your changes the next time they load your site: the landing page, the submission flow, and the emails your site sends all carry the new name, color, and logo. Senders who already have accounts see the change too.
  • A cleared field goes back to the standard copy or default palette; nothing on the public page is ever left blank. Text that happens to match the standard copy is still saved as your own text until you clear it.
  • All of these settings are freely reversible: save again with new values whenever you like.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see the Inbox site pages: They appear in your Inbox app settings for owners and managers of the organization that runs the site. Ask an owner on your team to change your role under Team members. If your newsroom doesn't run an Inbox site yet, email hello@pluckyworks.org.
  • The color preview looked right but my site didn't change: The sample strip is a preview only. Click Save branding to apply the color everywhere.
  • My logo doesn't appear: Uploads must be PNG or JPEG up to 2 MB. A web-address logo must be the full http:// or https:// address of an image that is publicly reachable.
  • Still stuck? Email support@pluckyworks.org.
